Why a blog?

This blog is a way to encourage the use of artificial intelligence methods in environmental science. It came out of a suggestion made during the unofficial dinner of the AMS STAC committee on AI in Phoenix. That's the American Meteorological Society's Science and Technology Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence Applications to Environmental Science.

Anyway, here we are. To be able to post on this blog, you have to be (or have been) a member of the STAC committee. Of course, any one can comment; we strongly encourage you to comment. Comment enough (and make sage comments) and we'll give you the right to post.

What kinds of things can you post? Definitely post links or excerpts of papers you're publishing or interesting results you have. Links to articles that would be of interest to the group are welcome as well. Questions, pet peeves ... it's your blog! It'll be what you make of it.
